This is second part of the orignial idea: MDMSEAE-I-129 submitted by Sowjanya Tumuluru (firstname.lastname@example.org):
Part 1: We are constantly getting a new requirement from many customers to use IBM MDM with AWS RDS Database. We would like to inquire when can IBM support support SQL server in Linux as new SQL Server ODBC connector for Linux was released in April 2020 - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/connect/odbc/linux-mac/release-notes-odbc-sql-server-linux-mac?view=sql-server-ver15.
This would eliminate the dependency of installing MDM on only Windows if we were to use SQL server as a managed database preferred by many customers. Oracle is not an option for us due to BYOL dependency to use Enterprise Edition.
Part 2: Also, can we expect MDM compatibility for any other AWS RDS databases in the future? like DB2, AWS RDS Open DB support, Postgres, MySQL.
|Priority Justification||We have 9 customers in pipeline, which need this feature of using AWS RDS for IBM MDM. So this is an urgent request. As all of the organizations around world are moving to cloud, everyone wants to use managed databases on AWS or Azure|
