We are driving automation by dynamically building a list of objects to 'GEN' the DDL for. However we also need to dynamically build a list of objects to exclude. Currently ADB2GEN only allows reference to a pre existing exclude which has to be created in foreground in the tool. We would like the ability to specify the exclude criteria directly in the job.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Automation for change control would benefit all DBAs reducing need for time consuming manual intervention|
How should it work?
Currently the objects for which DDL is to be generated can be directly specified in the ADB2GEN sysin. For instance something like this:
We would like something very similar for excludes, so maybe an example syntax could be:
Or, another option would be to treat excludes like masks. You can have a direct reference to a mask in ADB2GEN or you can include the mask information in a DD card 'MASKS' which contains the individual mask statements. Excludes could work exactly the same way.
|Priority Justification||It is high because we cannot deliver automation if the process requires manual foreground work|
