IA Data Quality rules Table Join keys operators

Operators - Within IA Data Quality rule development, Currently we can only join tables with = operator on Keys under Joins Tab. There is no way we can join tables using >= or <= operators . For example we would like to join tables where Table1.date >= Table2.date, In this scenario, we we have to create SQVT which would be not efficient on time perspective and tool shouldn't be lacking this functionality.

Hi Harun - IA has a large customer base, many running hundreds and even thousands of data rules on a monthly/weekly/daily basis. The WKC of which I speak is not the 'WKC Lite' that was once bundled with Information Server Enterprise Edition. Rather it is the IBM CLoud Pak for Data Watson Knowlege Catalog which is IBM's strategic platform based on RedHat OpenShift, containers and microservices. The feature/function of the Information Server suite is re-surfacing within CP4D WKC (version 3.5 was released 3 weeks ago). I am aware of 'ISDQUAL-I-63' which is also being considered for CP4D WKC. Thank you.

Thank You Dan. I think one of the reason why this kind of request did not come in 10+ years lies in your response that IBM is still not committed to fix the immaturity of the product even 7 months after bringing up this and so IA is only being treated as a sidekick product within the Info Server Suite at many places as it does not offer the features any other flagship product would offer.

This is another enhancement request we submitted that falls into the same category - https://ibm-data-and-ai.ideas.aha.io/ideas/ISDQUAL-I-63

Also makes me wonder who would really benefit from this enhancement (other than customer using CPD) as WKC is removed from the Info Server Suite in the latest release.

Hi Harun and Harish - My appologies, I mistook this request for 'IA' rather than 'WKC' as the description still states 'IA'. I have discused this with engineering for considertion in a future version of WKC. This is not a commitment rather a consideration. One thing that goes against this reqeust is that this is the first time in 10+ years that such a request has been raised also, concerns that non-equality JOINs can have unintended consequences of returning many more records than anticipated if not used properly.

    Hello Dan,

Looks like the Offering Management Team did not understand the need for this Enhancement Request correctly after almost 7 months raising the initial request (https://ibm-data-and-ai.ideas.aha.io/ideas/ISDQUAL-I-81).

When joining 2 tables from 2 different sources using a SQL VT for non equality joins is not an option. This shows the immaturity of the Product to not provide basic simple Operators (>, <, >=, <=) for the Joins and the willingness to fix it.

Also where does the Watson Knowledge Catalog Family exist now outside CPD ?

I have raised this enhancement for WKC only, Since you have mentioned that this ll be considered for WKC, I am not able to understand why the status has changed to not under consideration. Please let me know if there is any additional enhancement need to be raised again.

Use of the SQL Virtual Table is the only option for non equality JOINs. We will not enhance this in IA. We will consider this as an addition to the JOIN syntax in the Watson Knowledge Catalog product family.
