Data captured in long transactions with guaranteed delivery to destination

It is usefull because sometimes a very long transaction pass through the Capture process but can´t be delivered causing memory lack at destination.

The benefit would be not losing the data transferred to the destination.

One suggestion would be to get around memory usage by adopting a different strategy for processing the data received before applying them to the target table, such as using external SORT to sort the records in the correct order of application over time.

Q Apply memory usage for reading transaction messages for apply at target is controlled by MEMORY_LIMIT parameter in IBMQREP_RECVQUEUES.

If Q Apply MEMORY_LIMIT is exceeded due to a very long transaction, Q Apply is still able to apply the transaction at the destination target by running in MONSTER mode.

In MONSTER mode, Q Apply reads each message of a long transaction serially and applies it piecemeal on the target database, instead of trying to read the entire transaction into memory first.

In this way it does provide guaranteed delivery for long transactions that cannot fit in Q Apply memory, even if it may not be very performant in Monster mode due to serial read from receive queue.

The only way it will not be apply a long transaction at target is if DB2 gives an error when applying rows to target table(s).

We therefore need clarification on what exactly is meant by “memory lack at destination” ?

Is the memory lack in Q Apply program memory?

Or is it lack of memory / resources on DB2 side?

What exact failure did Q Apply and/or DB2 report when the issue with long transaction was encountered (such as sample of Q Apply / DB2 diagnostic logs)?
