  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Removed forced Requirement to force Replication Center to only run wit IBM JDK/JRE

Citigroup has a rule that only JDK/JRE that are supported by Citi are allowed to be used on all products that are packaged for general users. Currently the internal packaging team at Citi striped the IBM JDK/JRE from a Data Server Client 11.1.2. As a result of that action Replication Center cannot be started, we will have to request a deviation to be able to package the client. But IBM needs to removed that hard requirement and allow Replication Center use the customer standard JDK/JRE that the customer supports. We are requesting this to be remediated on a future release of Replication Center.

  • Future consideration
Who would benefit from this IDEA? Vendors should provide solution that allow their customers to fulfill the rules the customer set at their shops as standards and not force such a hardcoded solution, what JDK/JRE the customer use should be up to the customer to decide what is the customer willing to support for all their java environments
How should it work?

1)Proposed Solution -Allow Replication Center to use the customer standard JDK/JRE environment as an option instead of forcing the use of IBM JDK/JRE

2)Measurable Benefits of the Solution -The Citi Standard is not negotiable and other Vendors do not have this hardcoded requirement for their products JAVA Environment

3) What we re doing today is putting a deviation form to get this non standard build to be approved as an exception, but we need IBM to correct this restrictive design permanently allowing the customer to enforce their standards

Idea Priority High
Priority Justification Citi has hard requirement to only support Citi's approved JDK/JRE and do not allow products to support their own

    Thanks for filing this requirement.

We think that the requirement is valid, but the work has not yet been prioritized.

We need to evaluate the effort involved and potentially feedback from other clients.

We will provide further updates as the evaluation progresses.
