Currently the MDM Container do not follow general standards like the one from RedHat (https://www.redhat.com/en/resources/cloud-native-container-design-whitepaper). This makes it harder to adopt these containers for environments.
We now have to make them compliant for our selfs and other IBM customers most like also have to do this.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||As a consumer wanting to use MDM in Docker in a general environment with minimal impact in modifying the container to comply to general standards, so the container will run smoothly in such an environment.|
How should it work?
Make the containers compliant to general standards like the ones from RedHat (https://www.redhat.com/en/resources/cloud-native-container-design-whitepaper).
Also apply to the following rules:
- SINGLE CONCERN PRINCIPLE (every container should address a single concern and do it well)
- HIGH OBSERVABILITY PRINCIPLE
- IMAGE IMMUTABILITY PRINCIPLE (once built are not expected to change between different environments)
- PROCESS DISPOSABILITY PRINCIPLE
- SELF-CONTAINMENT PRINCIPLE
- LCM on the container : LCM on container level. No update tasks executed by consumers in the delivered containers
|Priority Justification||The idea is High because we're not allowed to run Docker containers not compliant with these rules in our environment.|
