Enable user roles matrix

Currently, to prevent to create/modify/delete items in Product Master, we need to use ACGs (access control groups). MDM CE roles always enable the same rights for a user in one specific catalog. For many various business reasons we need to be able to have different rights for different items of the same catalog.

Because of this, it seems it would be a major improvement if it would be possible to configure user rights depending on the values of their attributes and/or their category.

Example : a "smartphone catalog"

  • Smartphone items have an attribute "manufacturer" (e.g. : Apple, Samsung, ...)

  • Smartphone items are categorized in a "Manufacturer hierarchy" (e.g. : an "Apple" category, a "Samsung category", ...)

  • One role would enable to consult/modify the "Apple" phones and only consult the "Samsung" phones

  • One role would enable to consult/modify the "Samsung" phones and only consult the "Apple" phones

  • Thus, rights could be defined depending the value of the "manufacturer" attribute or, at the very least, the category in which the items are categorized

    Hi Paumier Arnaud,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Item level/Category level access needs to be controlled using ACG only. Many of our customers use the Selection user concept to control the access.

For this you need to create static selections of items and then map the selection to a specific ACG with appropriate role and access control on those items. Then map the user to this role. So when the user logs in he will be able to access only those items which belong to the selection to which he has been given the access privilege. If you are using Persona UI, the newly created role can be added to the roles.json and for the role provide access to only those screens which the user should be allowed to view.

    Thanks

    Jyothi
