Changing the location of executable binaries generated by View Data functionality from AppData to Program Files

IBM Support Case : TS003015642

When the user selects View Data in SPSS Modeler 18.2.1 is selected :

  1. A Java library jxbrowser-win64-6.2.1.jar (present in the SPSS installation directory) is accessed.
  2. It extracts a 7zr.exe file which is then executed and  its contents containing browsercore64.exe along with other files are extracted in the location is C:\Users\username\AppData\Local
  3. Finally the browsercore64.exe is executed which opens a window for Data Visualization.

Now, since execution of any .exe file outside C:\Program Files is prohibited under our organisation's security policy, the above mentioned process stops at step nbr 2 as the 7zr.exe and browsercore64.exe are stored in AppData.

The solution would be to store all the executable binaries '.exe'  (browsercore64.exe)  in C:\Program Files or it is pre-installed with the SPSS  installation and all other data files which needs write permission are stored in AppData.

There can also be an option which allows end user  to specify the location of temp files (not the .exe)  generated by View Data.
