At present the AWS S3 connector in DataStage is only able to import de-limited files. In order to ingest fixed width files a workaround has to be used to extract the data from S3 and place it on a file system first so that DataStage can import it.
We have been working with our client Virgin Money and Paul Raffo (SWG Services) on this and the developer advised that we should raise an RFE. Our client needs to read a lot of fixed width files from S3 for their current transformation programme so being able to do this will make things much easier for them.
Why is it useful?
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||As a customer, I want to be able to import fixed width files directly from S3 into DataStage|
How should it work?
The S3 connector should be able to handle fixed width files
|Priority Justification||Customer has a huge volume of fixed length files that they want to be able to read directly from S3 as part of their current integration programme|
|Customer Name||Virgin Money / Clydesdale Bank|
