Returning a large result set is very slow compared with Netezza.

< background >

Some Netezza customers migrate their Netezza(NPS) to IIAS(Db2) for Netezza EOS reason.

They have encountered a serious performance issue on IIAS(M4002-003) in netezza migration project. (TS003009133).

< Issue >
The problem occurs very simple query generated by SPSS Modeler, however the query returns a large data set to SPSS Modeler side from IIAS/Db2.  In that case,  the performance issue occurs. The result is the below. (This is one of cases )

< Case #1 >
On Netezza(N2002-002) -> Elapsed time is 13 sec
On IIAS(M4002-003)  -> Elapsed time is 26 sec

< Case #2 >
On Netezza (N2002-002) -> Elapsed Time is 281 sec
On IIAS(M4002-003) -> Elapsed Time is 432 sec

The root cause is the difference from a data transfer architecture and technology and client tool between Db2 and Netezza.  Returning a large data set from IIAS/Db2 is simply very slower than netezza.   Db2 APD team Choku Chi-san (choku@jp.ibm.com) concluded this is Db2 architecture issue.

So our customers strongly complain IIAS performance because the query is really simple, but performance is down.   We have several netezza and SPSS Modeler customers. This issue will affect  all netezza and SPSS Modeler users.

< Request >

I need a help to solve this issue by development team. Please analyze the issue and provide fix patch to optimize returning a large data set from IIAS /Db2.

Why is it useful?
Who would benefit from this IDEA? Customer , BP, and IBM.
How should it work?
Idea Priority Urgent
Priority Justification We can not meet service in criteria. Other SPSS Modeler and IIAS/Db2 Warehouse/ Db2 WoC customers suffer from the same issue. This would be critical issue if a customer migrate from Netezza to Db2.
