We use nzpassword utility in our environment for service account password caching to enable automatic jobs running without asking for password. We are migrating to IIAS and didn’t find similar utility. this is very important enhancement needed considering our migration in pipeline.

Why is it useful?
Who would benefit from this IDEA? As a customer I want to be able to cache password in servers. Currently, we use nzpassword utility in Netezza. We are looking for replacement in IIAS.
How should it work?

We have Nz client installed on ELT processing servers. We use nzpassword utility to cache service ID's (Job execution accounts) password on our ELT processing servers and Netezza appliance.
Below are examples of what we do with nzpassword utility. In this example, I considered admin id.

• Show/list if there are any cached passwords:
[nz@servername ~]$ nzpassword show
No cached passwords.

• Add user admin for password less entry of host servername2:
[nz@servername ~]$ nzpassword add -host servername2 -u admin

• Add user admin for password less entry of host servername:
[nz@servername ~]$ nzpassword add -host servername -u admin

• Show/list if there are any cached passwords:
[nz@servername ~]$ nzpassword show
Host User
-------- -----
servername admin
servername2 admin

• Login as admin id without explicitly providing password:
[nz@servername ~]$ nzsql -u admin
Welcome to nzsql, the IBM Netezza SQL interactive terminal.

Type: \h for help with SQL commands
\? for help on internal slash commands
\g or terminate with semicolon to execute query
\q to quit

• Delete cached password for host servername2
[nz@servername ~]$ nzpassword delete -host servername2

This setup is necessary for job orchestration to trigger jobs automatically.
