Need the ability to use onspaces, onparams, & API functions to manage storage allocation while an archive is executing. This is especially true with auto-extension of chunks and auto-expanding dbspaces by adding chunks automatically from the storagepools through the scheduled task manager tasks.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||All users with busy systems.|
How should it work?
Since the storage management commands are always logged, recovery should not be an issue and physical log records will protect the restored archive from changes to reserved pages during the archive. This block is an old restriction that is no longer necessary.
|Priority Justification||A client's servers perform major ETL jobs overnight which frequently take advantage of automatic storage management. Daily ontape archives are also taken during the runtime of the ETL jobs sometimes causing "No more space" errors in the ETL processing when the archive blocks auto-storage management.|
