For high volume environments OLTP environments e.g. thousands of sessions and HDR/RSS nodes add a per session/PDQ thread log cache. This is flushed to the physical and logical log buffers either when full or at transaction commit time.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Customers with very high volume OLTP environments.|
How should it work?
A new onconfig parameter PRIVATELOGBUFF to control the size of the per session/PDQ worker log buffer.
Contention for the logical log buffer latch would be greatly reduced in very high volume OLTP environments e.g. those with thousands of sessions and HDR/RSS nodes. Especially when trying to reduce replication latency where the logical log latches are important.
|Priority Justification||Allowing large increase in number of application processing sessions to improve performance.|
