Capability of disabling file download/upload for storage volumes

Update

03/28/2024 Promoted to ICPD-1520 scheduled for v5.1

Disabling uploads to storage Volumes completely across all users is possible quickly. This should be done in 5.0.x releases by simply adding a configuration in the backend.

However, I would like to understand if there are cases where ING would allow some users to allow while others be blocked ? This would have a different solution and would be done via User Permissions.

Next Step : Get clarity on scope and also how it relates to other services where files could be uploaded.

Hello,

We are using Storage Volumes to access NFS shares in Watson Pipelines. The Storage Volumes come out of the box with an interactive File Browser that allows you to both download and upload files.

There is an API to stop this file browser, however if you have Administrator or Editor rights, you can turn it back on from UI.

In production we NEED to disable this capability, as production data flows through the platform.

Unfortunately, Watson Pipelines does not work with Viewer rights (which would prevent turning on of the volume):

./script.sh: line 2: test1.txt: Read-only file system

    Hi there,

Thank for your input. Kindly clarify if this is regarding administrator or editor rights regarding of Watson Pipelines or for Cloud Pak for Data Platform.

Given the different roles at the platform level as well as the service level, this will help us better understand this idea.

    Thanks,
    Adam
