Not all data relevant for analytics is in a repository asset under an organisation control. There is a lot of interesting data sources that are public and external to the user organisation. Cataloguing such knowledge is also helpful. It includes:
- Web pages with links to data. The link is a downloadable csv or zip, which contains the data.
- Rss feeds, usually with unstructured data
- Opendata sources. Places where data is kept and refreshed periodically. It has not sense to catalogue a copy of the data, but the source of it
- Other live streams of data, such as stream sources, APIs that provide data (ej. the weather channel, webhose.io, but may others in the web). Maybe can be handled as bookmarks...
Why is it useful?
Currentlu WKC covers "private" data. We have nothing to support "public" data. But we always tell customers that in a AI project they have to consider "all possible sources of data"
Specially for Deep Learning stuff, huge public datasets are needed.

How should it work?
At first step, I suggest to add the current existing concept of "Bookmark" in Watson Studio as an asset for WKC
Also the "Bookmarks" in projects should be open to any URL, not only to assets in the community space.
When a bookmarked asset is a file (csv, zip, ...), and is selected for a project, the tool should facilitate downloading the asset directly to COS repository, without having to download to the local PC. Those assets can be VERY large (think on imagenet kind of assets)
For assets that are events / messages / stream in nature, when selected for a project, there should be a natural linkage with the streams editor, like a "web source" kind of component.
