Db2 Connect provides SQLCODE mapping when connecting to a back-end Db2 z/OS database. Federation does not offer the same feature, instead translating user-driven SQL errors to SQL1822N (SQLCODE -1822). When invoking a Db2 z/OS federated stored procedure through LUW, a different SQLCODE is returned to the calling application vs. calling the same stored procedure directly on Db2 z/OS.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Developers benefit from not being required to change code. IBM benefits by providing compatible options within Db2 and across the Db2 family, increasing the chance of keeping customers on IBM data servers.|
How should it work?
Federation server should provide a SQLCODE MAP/NOMAP option at CREATE SERVER and CREATE PROCEDURE (Sourced). The option should parallel the Db2 Connect SQLCODE mapping, including allowing installation-defined SQLCODE mapping.
|Priority Justification||Slowing our implementation of Db2 LUW.|
