Add support for the DECFLOAT data type allowing NICKNAME creation against a Db2 for z/OS table with a DECFLOAT column. Without this support, the CREATE NICKNAME fails and a workaround is required to map the data.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Customers benefit by ensuring IBM database products work well together. IBM benefits by not leaving gaping holes in product functionality for data types added over 10 years ago.|
|Priority Justification||Low because there is a cumbersome work-around and column type isn't often used.|
|Client Name||Southern California United Food & Commercial Workers Unions and Food Employers Joint Benefit Funds Administration, LLC|
How should it work?
It should work just like it does between Db2 and Db2; functionality should be transparent.
Work-around requires mapping to a different data type on the z/OS side (in a view), and then creating the NICKNAME against the view. This can result is loss of fidelity, depending on application requirements.
