Modify the AVZMREFB REXX to allow for the refresh of a single VSAM MAP and not the entire Maplib. When controlling the refresh of VSAM maps in a batch environment where the VSAM files are reloaded frequently there is the need to control the refresh at a granular level so that maps are not brought into memory until the application is ready. Currently all maps in a server are refreshed when any application triggers a refresh which can cause maps that have been updated in the PDS to be loaded into memory prematurely and cause errors.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Any team working to deploy maps via batch processes where multiple groups might be updating at the same time|
How should it work?
Provide the ability for the AVZMREFB process to accept a member parameter for the refresh. Only refresh that single member in memory.
|Priority Justification||While we can work around this by refreshing only during 'enable' there is still a chance for multiple teams to be updating maps and having a map prematurely deploy. We can place the create and enable in the same job but it does not eliminate the risk.|
