Currently with DVM Studio v1.1.53 it is not possible to establish a secure TLSv1.2 connection to the z/OS DVM server using AES_256 ciphers. Attempts to connect securely using an AES_256 cipher result in the following error:
An error occurred while attempting to establish a server connection
Reason: Socket Closed
Other Clients (such as Infosphere and z/Explorer) are able to establish a secure connection using AES_256 ciphers.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||All DVM Studio users who need to establish a secure connection to a DVM Server using current ciphers.|
|Priority Justification||Support for AES_256 ciphers is a requirement for using DVM Studio. There are more AES_256 ciphers that are currently approved for use than there are AES_128 ciphers.|
|Client Name||Shanika de Alwis|
How should it work?
Support of AES_256 ciphers in DVM Studio is needed to be able to establish a secure AT-TLS connection using current standards. The ciphers that DVM Studio supports need to be current and regularly updated according to industry standards.
