Our organization has thousands of databases and upwards of 200 DBAs. Allowing any user to create connections and define monitoring will create clutter and will end up putting extra workload on the databases as multiple users will sooner or later define duplicate monitoring connections on the same database(s).
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||DSM administrators, the DBAs and the databases will benefit from a streamlined configuration and controlled workload on the monitored databases.|
How should it work?
DSM should allow administrators to prevent regular users from creating connections.
|Priority Justification||We are in the process of rolling DSM out to over 100 DBAs. This functionality is essential to a successful implementation and ensure a smooth transition from the existing toolset.|
