When executing a SQL query under DSM, there is no provision for host variables and an error results when you try to execute a query. A simple example such as:
SELECT EMPNO, FIRSTNME, LASTNAME, WORKDEPT, HIREDATE, JOB, SEX, BIRTHDATE
WHERE LASTNAME = :last;
results in VARIABLE LAST IS NOT DEFINED OR NOT USABLE. SQLCODE=-312, SQLSTATE=42618, DRIVER=4.26.14
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Those executing code from programs that require a host variable input|
How should it work?
the host variable should trigger a popup screen where the value can be entered. This is the way Data Studio handles host variables. DSM should be changed to handle in the same way.
|Priority Justification||A useful tool for programmers and DBAs|
