The idea is to allow another option on the delete statement. Currently it accepts Start time and End time. I would like to see a 3rd option of "older than xx", where xx could be 10 days or whatever value is specified. This would allow a scheduled job to run, and delete all of the records on the ADMINQ older than 10 days from the current date.
Example: DELETE SERVERTIME 1970-01-01-00.00.00 10days. This would delete all records up to 10 days prior to the current date. I'm not too particular on the syntax of the command, I would just like a way for a scheduled job to run and delete unwanted records on the adminq file.
This is a much more user friendly than having to calculate what the endtime should be.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Systems programmer who needs to maintain the ADMINQ file to prevent it from filling up.|
How should it work?
DELETE OLDERTHAN(xx) or
DELETE SERVERTIME <startime> <10 days>
|Priority Justification||This idea is marked high because without this feature, it becomes very difficult to have a schedule job run to delete records on the adminq that are older than a specified value.|
