We are testing Recovery Expert and as part of our POC one of our batch runs produced an extremely large amount of output in the ARYEXPLN DD (over 139,500 lines). The job ended with a RC=8 and an indication that a Recovery Plan could not be created. Since all Recovery Expert messages end in "I" there is no easy way to find the exact messages that caused the RC=8.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Any DBA that is involved in a recovery scenario and needs to understand why a Recovery Plan could not be built.|
How should it work?
We are requesting that an additional DD be created that will contain the any/all of the messages from ARYEXPLN that caused the job to produce a return code resulting in no Recovery Plan being generated. It is acceptable to leave all the messages as they are in ARYEXPLN but we're requesting that those that specifically cause a job to fail be replicated to another DD for ease of review.
|Priority Justification||When faced with a recovery situation and using the tool to build an actual Recovery Plan we can't be wasting a lot of time to find specific messages that may have caused the job to fail.|
