QM provides exceptions to collect certain details when we hit those thresholds. In my customer circle none of the customers are monitoring the system without multiple profiles. They simply define multiple lines to active profile with different filtering and monitor exceptions. Some of the customers are managing those settings like WLM policy activation like peak or batch. Simply activate or deactivate profiles thru modify commands.
Can we group the thresholds based on application. That means customer will define an application based on grouping certain Plans/Authid/WSName etc... and define thresholds for that app. Simply they will monitor Db2 based on application definition. For Instance; They will monitor App A against Db2 ET, App B against Db2 CPU, etc... with application specific thresholds
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||system monitoring, dba, app performance|
How should it work?
We need a new grouping like Application Name which will be defined certain characteristics such as Plan/Package/AuthID/OLTP or Analytics, etc... Customer will select certain fields to identify application and we will suggest some specific thresholds such as getpage, ET or CPU specific to OLTP for instance. Then customer will l monitor App A against Db2 ET, App B against Db2 CPU, etc... with application specific thresholds
|Priority Justification||Customers are focusing Application Performance|
|Client Name||This is based on my observations during PoCs and other technical engagements. Mainly ISBANK and SBSA|
