My organization has all the users and Groups on active directory. The groups on active directory always get prefixed by some characters which are in Upper case due to the type of group we are requesting. Also addition of this prefix add more characters to our group names which is restricted to 8 characters.
This prefix removal is not allowed in my organization since they are inserted in first place due to certain business and compliance demands.
Also another challenge is of 8 characters which is old age problem. Primary group should be allowed to have more than 8 characters.
Why is it useful?
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||I would be able to have a group more than 8 characters and in mix case as well|
How should it work?
I dont know what you can do to accommodate that.
But this will benefit other clients as well for reasons that group names can be more than 8 characters and can be having mix case due to organizational requirements.
We are fixing this today somehow by working with AD team but we are getting challenged every time and we get blocked by the AD team owners to do this and demands strongly that IBM should do the changes in product rather than they doing non-warrant changes and doing something which is not standard.
|Priority Justification||I believe we should have something like this already in an era where we have AD/LDAP in place where user/groups can be of many conventions|
