IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Clients

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

If you have not registered on this portal please register at . To complete registration you will need to open the email you will receive from Aha to confirm your identity.

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

CDC Should Ignore Backout Processing For UOW That Are Not Subscribed

We were impacted by an NPS failure due to the Postmaster task failing.  Postmaster restarted successfully.  There is a known fix for this.  After the restart we noticed a large log recovery lag (36 hours) due to a long-running UOW that had no commits in it.   The tables in the UOW had no subscriptions.  This UOW was holding up replication for all subscribed work.  We are asking that a change be made to CDC replication to ignore processing for UOW that are not subscribed  and process only UOW that are subscribed in order to limit lag time.  See case TS002525358 for more details.

Who would benefit from this IDEA? Anyone needing timely access to queries requiring acceleration after Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS system failures.
How should it work?

We are running IDAA V5.1.  According to case TS002525358, IDAA V7.1 and Integrated Synchronization (when it becomes GA) will not process unsubscribed UOW work to avoid unnecessary lag times.  We are asking that this functionality be incorporated into IDAA V5.1.

Idea Priority Medium
Priority Justification The medium priority was chosen as this is not a frequently occurring issue, but when it does happen it can have a big impact on data currency for queries requiring acceleration.

Our strategic replication technology will be Integrated Synchronization in V7 which fulfills this requirement.

We will not implement this feature on CDC-base neither in V5 nor V7.
