Drop Databases Created by Implicit Mapping Tables

Problem statement/ pain point: We have started to use on-line reorgs without specifying the mapping table because v11 will generate one for you.  Pretty cool.  Db2 will create a database, DSNnext_db_identity_number, create a table space, create the mapping table, create a mapping index and then reorganize the table space while up and available.  Cool.  Once the on-line reorganization is complete, Db2 will drop the table space (and by doing so drop the mapping table and index).  Goodness.  Problem is that the database is left out there.  Badness.  Even though Db2 will create up to 10,000 implicit databases and then start over again at number 1, we believe that since the mapping table is being dropped after its creation, that the database that is used to support the mapping table be dropped also, unless there is a really good technical reason for not doing so.  Keeps things clean and tidy in the catalog.

Proposed solution: Have Db2 drop the implicit database that is used to support the implicitly created mapping table.

    Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request.

    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming product deliverable because it is not consistent with the product direction.

    You can limit the number of implicit databases. We cannot drop a db because we do not control whether it is used for other objects. We have future plans to remove the need for mapping tables altogether.

    As a consequence we will not be implementing this request.
