FR581: Enable pushdown and transitive closure for LIKE with parameter markers to table expressions

As part of SAP Core Data Services (CDS), SAP supports 'type as you search' capability when entering values in panels. As part of this processing, they issue the following query on a view which includes a UNION clause. The access path with DB2 is not good since the LIKE ? predicate of the main query is not pushed down to the branches of the UNION, which then results in materializing an entire table into a workfile. The requirement is to enable push down of LIKE with parameter markers to table expression. The same enablement should be done for transitive closure to prevent similar issues in that space

Dear Peter, Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. The team reviewed it and has concluded the performance gain for this push down is small. Therefore, unfortunately, we will not be considering this enhancement request.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team
