Prevent deadlocks between RTS externalization and ALTER activity

We occasionally experience deadlocks between our application processes that perform alters to rotate partitions on partitioned tablespaces and RTS externalization (specifically correlation ID 014.RTSTST00). We would like to see the locking between these activities synchronized to prevent deadlocks from occurring.

Dear Mike, Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. The Db2 for z/OS development team recently re-reviewed it and have some solutions in mind which are still in team discussions.

However, because our 12 month forecast/roadmap is booked, we will likely not be able to implement this in the next 12 months.

Therefore, we have dispositioned the idea to Not under consideration, but we have also tagged the idea to revisit in 2023 when we begin planning for the next milestone.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. And we hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team
