Resolve issue where DB2 has an issue with invalid MDSNxx Class profiles created in RACF

IBM Please read the case TS013914362.

In summary DB2 created dumps/abends when the RACF administrator deleted permissions to some incorrectly formatted profiles in one of the MDSNxx classes.   When the administrator performed the permit delete and issued the SETROPTS command a signal was sent to DB2 to update its internal tables.    It could not decypher the profile so a dump/abend was created.   The profile did not have the correct number of nodes.

From a RACF Security Engineer perspective, DB2 is using RACF incorrectly.   RACF is a repository of profiles, it is not a profile syntax checker.    If you create a invalid JESJOBS or JESSPOOL profile, JES2 does not abend.   The profile is just not used because the resource being checked does not match the profile.   The same with other products like CICS, MQ, IMS, etc.  They don't abend when administration is performed on a invalid profile.

DB2 need to re-look at how it interfaces with RACF.

Please re-look at case TS013914362. On 9/19 we had the issue again, but this time its with the RDELETE command trying to delete a MDSNSP profile that did not have enough nodes in the profile name. Performing RACF administration on a valid or invalid RACF profile should not cause DB2 to create dumps.

As stated earlier in the idea, RACF is a repository of security profiles. It is not a syntax or format checker for the applications that use it. If RACF contains a invalid profile that should cause no impact to the application. The profile is just ignored.
