Enhance the DISPLAY LOG COMMAND to show if a specific active log dataset belonging to one member of a data sharing group is allocated to 1 or more other members in the data sharing group.

This command would be useful to allow DB2 SYSPROGS/DBAs to see if a specific active log dataset belonging to one member of a data sharing group is allocated to 1 or more other members in the data sharing group. This would allow the REMOVAL PENDING status to be identified and avoided before a SET LOG REMOVE LOG command is issued.

DB2 commands can be run easily in batch.

The SET LOG REMOVE LOG command command can leave a log in a REMOVAL PENDING status, so you already have the code to identify that a log cannot be dynamically removed from a BSDS. Why not allow that information to be displayed please?

Hello Neil, The Db2 for z/OS team continued to review this idea and determined you have the option to use D GRS command to display who is using the active log. Given this, and the fact this does not align with functionality prioritized for the upcoming 12 months, we are not considering this idea at this time.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    Db2 for z/OS Team
