DB2 V13 REMOVE LOG command - SET LOG REMOVE LOG

Hi,

Please could the DB2 V13 command SET LOG REMOVELOG be updated as follows:

1. An option is provided so the the command either works or fails? We want the option to not have REMOVAL PENDING logs in our BSDS after a SET LOG REMOVELOG command is issued. We are a Bank, and if I were to present a change record to our Change Review Board (CAB) stating that the the SET LOG REMOVELOG command could leave our logs in REMOVAL PENDING state (in limbo and unusable) then my change would be declined and would never be approved. We either want the command to work completely or to fail without leaving the log in a REMOVAL PENDING status.

2. An option of reset the REMOVAL PENDING status from a log in the BDDS. We are a Bank and we do not want our active logs left in a state of limbo after a change. We need to be in a position where we can implement or back out the change completely. A REMOVAL PENDING status would not go down well with my management.

Hello Neil, In response to your question about a TEST keyword option to see who is using the dataset to determine if the removelog will be successful, you can use the following MVS command:

    d grs,res=(*,<active-log-data-set-name>)

    Thanks!

Hello Neil, The Db2 for z/OS team continued to review this enhancement request and accepts Option 1 to provide a new keyword for -SET LOG REMOVELOG command, which eliminates the need for option 2. It is now in Future consideration state. We will update you when development provides more feedback or has any further questions for you.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS teaam
