We have a general purpose StoredProcedure (STPX1) that is called by other native StoredProcedures (STPA1, STPA2, STPA3, etc) that have CALL statements to STPX1,
If I need DROP the STP STPX1 (for recreate later) I receive the error -478 for dependency whit STPA1, STPA2, etc.
DSNT408I SQLCODE = -478, ERROR: ALTER, DROP, OR REVOKE AFFECTING OBJECT TYPE
PROCEDURE CANNOT BE PROCESSED BECAUSE OBJECT STPA1 OF TYPE
PROCEDURE IS DEPENDENT ON IT
in order to drop and recreate the STP STPX1 I am obliged to unnecessary delete the some other STPs (STPA1, STPA2, STPA3, etc.)
I need do the DROP a Stored Procedure although this is called by others. In any case, it ends up with a positive sqlcode, for example +478 but the DROP ends all work.
I have found another idea with the same request that I do:
NOTE: Alternatives to REPLACE or REGENERATE would not be valid. The need to delete an STP may be due to several reasons: for example a language change, changing an STP SQL to STP java, in this way a DROP is essential. Or it simply needs an urgent DROP STP because it is giving logic errors that affect the data, running loops, etc.
An STP cannot be "shielded" because it is called by others.
Other solution is that DB2 enable a DROP FORCE PROCEDURE.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Development can drop/create STP SQL with high inter-calling interest without need multiples STP droping|
How should it work?
The DROP PROCEDURE deletes the STP with return of positive SQLCODE (+ xxx) for notify warn.
|Priority Justification||we have developed business applications with STP SQL|
