RTS history table outside DSNDB06

With DB2 12 new function features, IBM added RTS temporal history option. This is an excellent option, considering we used to perform that manually. Unloading and reloading the STATS into a history table.

The new option, creates 2 new tables with in DSNDB06.

TABLE NAME CREATOR DATABASE

SYSIXSPACESTATS_H SYSIBM DSNDB06

SYSTABSPACESTATS_H SYSIBM DSNDB06

these two tables are in DSNDB06.

If we start using the feature , we will be adding millions of rows into these two tables.

These two tables do not have any supporting indexes.

We will need catalog indexes.

Instead if we can have the ability to create the history tables outside DSNDB06. That would provide lot more flexibility with regards to how much data we want to retain. We can also create the index as and when we need .

Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request.

After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming product deliverable because it is not consistent with the product direction. As a consequence we will not be implementing this request.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    Db2 for z/OS Team
