Access LOB data when using the WQLS list for IFCID 0306

The WQLS list allows the IFI READS 306 interface to limit the log records returned into the I306 buffer to just the DB and PS table ID combinations found in the WQLS list. Unfortunately, if you have tables that contain LOB columns you cannot return the LOB log records when using the WQLS list and the WQALLCR0 flag. We must read all log records using the WQALLCRA flag in order to process tables that have LOBs which is inefficient.

It would be great to be able to specify the DB and PS IDs of the associated LOB tablespaces so that we could also return LOG log records as they are a part of the transaction. A possible and maybe even better option would be to have a WQALLCR5 or WQALLCRL flag that would act like WQALLCR0 but also return LOB log records associated with a table that contains LOBS along with the table records.

This was originally discussed under case number TS002569922.

Thank you Janet. This is good news and if it gets implemented, I would like to see added back to 11.1.

Ideally, we would only have to include the base table ids and have all of the associated lob space records returned automatically. If we have to include the ids for the associated spaces, then if new ones are created, we would have to recognize that somehow and setup a new WQLS filter list which would not be particularly user friendly.

    Richard,

Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request.

We have reviewed this request; however, because it is not in our current roadmap and we are unable to deliver it within the next 24 months, it is not under consideration at this time.

We may re-open this idea in the future.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    Db2 for z/OS Team
