Sometimes during a migration diskspace runs low. It would be great to have an option for db2move, which reads/writes files compressed or pipe it through gzip/bz2/...
This would lead to a storage reduction during migrations of roughly 80% plus reduced disk i/o during the move.
Why is it useful?
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Every customer using db2move|
How should it work?
Add an option to pipe all external data files through a compress utility. Either the compress utility is definable or it is a system default.
|Priority Justification||useful extension; could be implemented by some student during intership in Markham ;-)|
