Enhance SYSIBM.SQLFUNCTIONS to deliver meta data required by JCC (JDBC V4)

This is a quite old story. Back in 2015 this had already been addresses by COGNOS team IBM internally, but due to the possible impact to existing applications, it was refused to open an APAR for this issue. But RFE or DCR has not been opened by COGNOS so far. But now a 'real' customer is hitting this issue.

See old PMR and CRM at:

Actual customer cases are TS002132013, TS002126647, TS002297813 open against Cognos and Db2 and vice versa.

The original issue is lack of meta data being returned by stored procedure SYSIBM.SQLFUNCTIONS to fully support JDBC v4 standard of 'getFunctions' and 'getFunctionColumns' calls issued via jcc driver.
The FUNCTION_TYPE value is still missing from the procedure an thus the function output!

Who would benefit from this IDEA? Every customer using Db2 JCC driver with JDBC V4 standard!
How should it work?

Stored procedure should be changed to provide the required output!

So far Db2 does NOT fully support JDBC V4 standard!

Customer application is lacking required meta data information!

Idea Priority High
Priority Justification Priority set to high, as this is such an old issue, that should have been fixed already within the last two or three Db2 releases, but wasn't due to lack of reminder (no APAR nor RFE).
