IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data & AI organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Application Object Space Limit Monitoring - Batch Alerting

We currently have an in-house written tool (in Rexx) that batch reports daily on any of our application objects across our Db2 Z/OS production estate that might be approaching theoretical dataset size / partition limits; so that we can pro-actively make some change that object (e.g compress / convert to UTS) and protect service.

As well as our tens of thousands objects in Universal TableSpace format, we still have a number of legacy objects (Segmented / Classic Partitioned) yet to be converted to UTS and our daily report will interrogate idcams data on all the different flavours we have and report on those reaching theoretical limits (e.g. 85% of maximum dataset size / approaching last dataset of a segmented tablespace).

Due to the many flavours of tablespace, the Rexx is somewhat complex, and as a result any bugs in it we've found in the past can be difficult to resolve, and the potential for those bugs can mean potential impact to service if an object is not alerted to us when approaching limits.

After raising case TS007718527 to query this, It seems IBM don't currently have a product / part of an existing product that can perform this task. I would imagine it would be of use to many shops.
