Support of btrfs on Db2 220.127.116.11 is required
Daimler needs support of btrfs on Db2 11.1 on SLES 12 SP3.
result of IBM PMR (Case TS000138704):
“Although the DB2 documentation only lists recommended file systems, support for unlisted file system might be limited and there is no guarantee that DB2 will work with it.
Whether it is not supported or not tested would mean that it can generate an error on your machine in certain phases.â€
BTRFS is not listed, therefore it is not recommended.
Technote swg21978698 covers installation of Db2 on BTRFS (in our blueprint: /opt/IBM/db2), which has already known issues.
Even we at Daimler are currently discussing root filesystem (“/â€) and we basically do not use the root filesystem for DB2 (no installion, no data container), root fs is still used:
- in installation which uses /tmp => solution: we could define /tmp as separate filesystem
- by any kernel call (forking process , performing I/O)
Setup layout at Daimler on SLES:
/opt/IBM/db2 xfs Installation directory
/srv/db2/home xfs Instance home directory
/srv/db2/var xfs dumpg directory
/srv/db2/data1 xfs Data$Index tablespace container directory
/srv/db2/temp1 xfs Temp tablespace container directory
/srv/db2/evmon xfs Event monitoring directory
/srv/db2/onredop xfs Logpath
/srv/db2/onredom xfs Mirrorlogpath
/srv/db2/offredo xfs Archive log path for emergency
/dbshare xfs Application related data
/free_SOD xfs Free Storage to sue on demand
/ ??? OS root filesystem
Default Filesystem of "/" (root fs ) is btrfs, but it is not supported by Db2!
