We have a cloud-native strategy that Db2u fits better than most other RDBMSes. We also have a fairly mature Kubernetes infrastructure. We would really like to run db2u on native Kubernetes, without OpenShift.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||IBM would benefit from this idea. Don't make the same mistake IBM did in restricting Db2 to their own cloud for a while. Allow the use of Db2 freely in enterprise environments.|
How should it work?
1) Let us use db2u without OpenShift
2) Provide sample helm charts/yaml
3) Suggestions on any components that are critical to come up with a replacement for that would normally be covered by OpenShift
|Priority Justification||We would be using this yesterday if it existed. Integrating db2u into our microservices architecture would have more projects on db2 and fewer going to other RDBMSes.|
