Sparse file support was added in NFSv4.2 and currently AIX supports NFS4.1 which does not have sparse capability. DB2 only supports fast pre-allocation on some file systems. Including Veritas VxFS, JFS2, GPFS,
ext4 and xFS. Kindly include the support of NFS 4.2 in AIX.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||UNILEVER|
How should it work?
No workaround at this moment,
Once AIX supports NFS4.2 then if we are using NFS mount path for database restore or database files. We will get performance boost. Mostly while migration to NFS path or during restoration.
|Priority Justification||The measurable benefit would be a speed increase by factors and space savings as well|
