Usually our Db2 backups to TSM. Occasionally we restore a Db2 system in another operating center from where we have to access to the TSM server for Restore/rollforward.
In the target environment the Db2 archive logs are extracted via db2adutl afterwards transferred to the destination directory and finally rollforward.
Since db2 rollforward does currently not support read of Archive logs from TSM. it takes unnecessarily long to extract the Archive logs , up to factors.
If db2 rollforward would be able to read Db2 archive logs, roll forward time would be probably fast.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Every customer who extracts Db2 archive logs using db2adutl|
How should it work?
1) db2 rollforward should read archive logs for TSM Db2 backup as we can read backup sets from TSM server in db2 restore phase
2) The measurable benefit would be a speed increase by factors
3) The current workaround today is to wait and extract archive logs which takes too much space and customer has to purge it on destination directory and server
