In a real-life application, I had a headache with error [IBM] [DB2/NT64] SQL0302N "The value of a host variable in the EXECUTE or OPEN statement is too large for its corresponding use."
Namely, in an application which deals with millions of insert / updates, there was an error with an insert / update or an open cursor.
But, nothing helps the developer to find which data causes the problem.
The support didn't achieve to help us, so I had to spend a lot of time to find the problem.
If this error could give more information at the time of the error, just give a trace of the host variable which causes trouble.
The real life error was a bad phone number !!! I could have found the error immediatly if only I had a trace of this string which gave troubles.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||Everyone which encounters this error|
How should it work?
Just give complete trace just after the error display
error [IBM] [DB2/NT64] SQL0302N "The value of a host variable in the EXECUTE or OPEN statement is too large for its corresponding use." Host variable : "06.06.27.06.27 contact établi" is not valid in this context
|Priority Justification||It could be done without any efforts. But it can solve the problem in seconds, instead of searching for days.|
