CDC Agent support HA/cluster by product itself.

In banking production environment,

CDC agent are often across multi platform for different database, and CDC HA solution have to depend on different technology tightly with OS and different OS version, such as AIX, Linux.

and the HA stack is often not only CDC, but also OS and Database etc, so the HA switch normal need some long time and with more unsuccessful experience.

for banking customer with CDC replication, It happened data delay when CDC instance failed, customer will take too much efforts to build HA solution for CDC at database cluster environments.

current lots of product provide self capacity to support HA/Cluster only with external sharing file system pre-request.

so CDC self HA/Cluster feature is very important to customer position CDC as enterprise Data replication platform. and It will more effective to build and manage replication solution if CDC agent can support ha/cluster architecture by itself.

    I voted. I experienced difficulty when we considered implementing Db2 HADR on both source and target of CDC, as well as CDC ACCESS server.

    Thanks for filing this requirement. We think that the request is valid but at this time the work is not committed. To help us with future prioritization, we will monitor this request for more user feedback.


    Note that guidance on how to achieve the same objective of HA for the CDC agent via approaches that are not built into the products exists.

    We are using CDC in one of the largest banks in Brazil. We would love to see native HA, especially on the Linux agent. This would help us to dramatically reduce downtime in case of agent failures
