When we try to map 20 tables from Remote Capture agent to kafka side, CDC product run the following commands in order.
a. ALTER TABLE "TG"."T_CARD_MASTER" DATA CAPTURE NONE
b. ALTER TABLE "TG"."T_CARD_MASTER" DATA CAPTURE CHANGES
However, for some tables, the second command failed since it requires a short lock on the table. They are the ones of the very frequently used tables. So we resulted in tables with Data Capture NONE, even though they were Data Capture CHANGES to begin with.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||All IDAA Remote Capture users|
How should it work?
These alter commands should be for the administrators to make. In critical sectors like us (banking), table alter time windows differ from each other according to related batch and trx runs. Or, the product can query the Cata Capture parameter and if it is already CHANGES, then it could take no action to alter it.
|Priority Justification||Idea priority is High because the transition from traditional CDC to Remote Capture CDC will be critical for our production environment at the 4th quarter of this year.|
