IBM Cognos BI compatibility with Oracle 12c Multitenant functionality

we are on cognos BI 10.2.1 FP4 , DBA team is working to upgrade Oracle platform and move all the databases from 11g to Oracle 12c. we want to use service name in JDBC connection string but it 's not allowing to use service name , it looks like it use SID rather than service name. Please find the attached logs and more exception details in PMR . below is high level error details

The error encountered is: "Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor " Cause: Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor Stack trace: java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor at

We upgraded the database to Oracle 12c. The configuration tool provided by the application does not build a string using Oracle Service Names, it builds them using Oracle SIDs. Oracle SIDs are not directly supported in Oracle 12c Multitenant. Brent implemented a work around (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21691583)on the database side, but this is a non-standard configuration and we would like to see a ticket opened with IBM to get this fixed.

we also have tried to configure content store using advance database options with provided JDBC string but it does not working.

we are requesting to make enhancement in product to support this Oracle 12c Multitenant functionality

Thanks ,
Praful
