Elimination of Dropdown list

Client environment uses LDAP for Active Directory, since the Client Active Directory domain has several domains (BDS, and CDS) when two namespaces have to be created in order to recognize users in each domain(BDS or CDS). This is an SSO environment, therefore in order for the users to be authenticated without be prompted to enter the userid and password, they have to choose the correct domain from the drop-down list. In- turn once the correct domain is chosen the user is granted access to the Cognos portal. Client would like to have the users authenticated regards of domain and the need to chose from drop-down. It states that since we are not using AD in a pure windows environment, we have to use LDAP which this is a limited function and has some draw back for what the client is needing. In summary can the LDAP be made to work like AD which would allow the authentication search be on the whole domain tree instead of the individual branches.
