3000 data item restriction in dashboard visualisations

I see reference in the documentation for dashboards that dashboards will only visualize up to 3000 data points regardless of the visualization type.

Is there any way to extend this value as this limitation makes dashboarding against data prohibitive (especially in relation to other tools such as qlik, tableau and microsoft).

I understand that performance can be compromised by increasing this - but this value is preventing customers doing anything useful within their dashboards.
If it is hardcoded - could we not have the ability to increase the value on the server-side at the users own risk of impacting performance ?

    it's mid-2021 and ...? Cognos 11.2 still have waring ...

IBM Cognos developers doing something? the tool is useless with such cuts for most customers. Other tools have not (or have never had) such limitations for a long time.

Please note that the 3000 data point limit regardless of visualization type only applies to users browsing on Internet Explorer

This technical note details the limits for the various visualization types on other browsers
