Allow for customisations to Dashboard to allow for users to edit but not save

Enhancement Request:

To customize a role that will allow users to be able to Edit (edit mode toggled on) certain dashboards but restrict them from being able to 'save' those dashboards, instead make them 'save as'. When they next use the 'saved as' copy of the dashboards, these users with this customized role should be able to 'save' the dashboard as it is their own copy.

Current Limitations:

  • the user has to 'Save as' to create a copy of the restricted dashboard(s) before they can toggle 'Edit' ON
    • the customer wants to workflow to be the inverse; to be able to toggle 'Edit' ON then 'Save as'
  • restricting dashboards for this particular functionality requires customizing permissions on specific folders / dashboards. Being able to customize a role to restrict users would mean any dashboard the restricted users open would be restricted for them, even if no permissions had been set on the dashboard / folder
  • Dashboard behaviour does not align with behaviours seen by Reporting where user capability allows for authoring and permissions allow for 'save' visibility
