Optional Date Prompt Check Box should be Unchecked by default

The optional behaviour of the date prompt is different to every other cognos prompt. it is even different to the date prompt when it is used in Range mode!

When a date prompt is made optional, a check box appears to show if it should or should not be used.

When the optional date prompt appears in a report by default the check box will be selected and the prompt populated with today's date. This means the report will be filtered to today's date.

The consumer must untick the check box if they don6't want the date filter to be applied.

Contrast this behaviour with every other type of prompt. The default behaviour for the consumer is that if they dont interact with the prompt then no filter will be applied.

Now imagine you have a prompt page with 10 optional prompts, a mixture of value prompts, text prompts and so on. The consumer can happily leave all these alone to apply no filters, yet the date prompt must be unchecked.

The report author cannot change this.

The ask is for the report to either have the optional check box unticked by default, or give the report author a property to control the check box.

This behaviour makes date prompts unusable in a large enterprise environment as the amount of user calls these prompts generate (why is my report not showing all data?) is too vast. Instead we end up writing our own date prompts by using a value prompt. At least we can just leave that blank and optional by default!
